We'll, you know I love this guy.. look at that face, those eyes, he wears his heart on his sleeve.. a Big teddy bear, all heart.. but a very smart bear... you can almost see the wheels turning in that head of his... What IS he thinking? Artistically, the contrast is great, good flow and nice movement, great composition, choice of black and white film are superb. Very animmated, which really holds it together with all of it's great components, that are already there. There lies, the element of suprise, of wonder.

Great picture! I love it. I've been to this page twice already, just to see it again.

Black and white and fists and ties was what I first saw just at the bottom and was astonished at the complete change of mood when I saw it all. Jubilancy! Even more so with the contrasts. Good lord, you are gifted. Big smiles today.

That nice guy portraited is Big Joe. Big guy, Big hart, great personality. Met him in a journey to Cairo - we laugh together for hours in a van, during one of the greatest jorneys I've ever made. He told me things I'll never forget. Big hug brother! I commend the photographer: This is the way I remeber him.

I think this is my favorite pic yet. It conducts either a happy atmosphere or perhaps a more sinister one.

There is a wonderful air of mystery in this shot - why is he grinning? What is he looking at? What is the gesture with his hands? I love it! Like the other person said - personality.

I have loved all your portraits thus far (I've just come to the site at the beginning of December, I have a LOT of catching up to do). This one, though, may get my only comment. I moved away from Chicago many years ago, and often feel a little homesick being in the South. You've brought all that back again, remembering the wise guys I grew up around. His grin, the suit, the jewelry and pose... this is like seeing my grandfather or one of his buddies as a young man. Thank you, Bill. And thank you Joe for being a beautiful visual reminder of my hometown.
