Nuno Santos - Lover and a Fighter / Sunset Park April 07, 2007
Definite counterpoint to the anonymous poster of yesterday - and I must say that this is one of those which really evokes a response from me. Beautiful colours, definitely the expression is one that you don't expect from a posed portrait... I'm sure that there were many in this series and the decision to run this one makes me wonder what you were thinking at the time, Bill. I mean that in the most non-condemning way - I want to know what the emotion behind this portrait is on both of your parts.
P.S. I love the composition - the centrist face cut off at the head and the body taking it to the edge - Really using the space in an engaging way. Ya! - Dan Any kind of critical comment in this sort of arena runs the risk of turning into a 'flame war', but I don't regret being anonymous (cowardly? What difference does a name make, we're all anonymous). Incidentally, as I think most of the anonymous postings are me, you can see that I really do love looking at these portraits.
If the project continues as good or better than it is now, it will be a full year of excellent photos, so I'll add my thanks to Bill Wadman for doing what he is doing. - Captures Nuno like the pleasant little peach he is. I think i just found my new screensaver:-) - Dave I agree with our anonymous friend. I think there needs to be room for some critique in the comments section. Otherwise, the only goal here is to stroke Bill's ego. That having been said, I don't like this one as much as the others. Maybe it was just windy this day, but his expression says to me "pained" or "uncomfortable". Personally, that's not really what I look for in a portrait. - Matt lovely. great expression. love and fighter. lovely - Josh Rothhaas - definitions.wordpress.com Here is a man seeing what can be. Expressive and entertaining in his nonverbal essay. That blurry world behind him seems a symbol to what such a body would love and fight for. He looks like he's seeing the future and figuring it out. Talking it out even. I can almost hear this one.
It's not critique, but it's what I have to give, man! If there is a goal to comments I am so flunking and I am sorry for it. Also, I am not stroking any ego, nor drumming fingers on the id or manhandling the shadow self. I don't even know where those things are kept. I swear! - Boo - http://www.xanga.com/Boowasborn This is one of my favorites so far. There is so much texture and reality and depth to it. It feels like I could reach out and touch that 5 o'clock shadow and ease his brow. Feels like maybe he is trying to make me laugh or I just stepped on his toe (in heels) or like I just said something that was meant to be nice but came out wrong. Anyway, it really draws me and makes me feel like I'm there. - cat I love this because of the look on his face. Sometimes an expression like this is just so much more organic and telling than a smile ever could be. - AL awesome - Danie Krieger - http://flickr.com/photos/smoothdude/
I'm Bill Wadman, a New York-based photographer who after completing my first 365 Project, and then a weekly 52 Project, took it upon myself to shoot and post one portrait every day of 2007. Each photo was taken that day, and each day was a different subject. Some were be in the studio, some in the wild. Hopefully they are all interesting.
