Peggy Lyman Hayes - Dancer, Instructor / Martha Graham School May 23, 2007
Dynamic. This is classic, classic work. Simple, tells a story.
The seam almost dead center in the mirror made me think two-page-spread-magazine. Interesting choice. - Dan (the first one) amazing! Peggy looks gorgeous and what a perfect place to take her portrait. It brings back lovely memories of dancing in front of her watchful eyes. - Eran Bugge O WOW, this is soooo much different than what you have been doing so far, Bill!!! Risky I tell ya!
Many people in the shot and that distracts from the subject, but then you look at Peggy's face and you know... it is her who you shot, and the rest are just background... I love her expression, so detatched from the picture and so concentrated on the dancer! and the mirror makes the whole scene look more dramatic. It was a marvelous idea to make it W/B!!!
Great work again Bill! - Ela WOW! i agree about the two page spread. also i feel like the dancer's arm and body frame the subject perfectly! this portrait is really so powerful, just wonderful! - Lindsey Good use of depth of field. Nice work and I'm glad you went with Black & White. Natural.
nice job Bill. - Alexander this picture IS different... and so, it's the first one which doesn't speakt to me...
good worksmanship, no doupt... but it's missing something the other pictures had... - samsplanet Loves it. - Mary This picture is so perfectly crafted. As a dancer, I couldn't say how many times I myself have had that exact point of view and love how perfectly you captured it. Such an amazing composition to see your subject and hers as well. Gorgeous. - Heather I like the way the lines in the photo frame her face. Unfortunately I think her own reflection is a little distracting. If only she'd been standing closer to the wall! - Brian Amazing. You can put up more of these kind of shots.. i love it. - Laura - http://www.lauravink.nl I've followed your site for a few months now and I absolutely love your work. Recently, I've been less than enthused about the pictures, but this one is one of my favorites! - Stephanie This is beautiful. I'm a dancer myself and you captured this moment and this woman wonderfully. Thank you so much for all your inspiring work! - Courtney Excellent b&w choice. I feel like a 70's picture. The mirror in the background is perfect. - Victor Puig-Vilarrubis - http://www.flickr.com/photos/45street I love it, and am so glad you chose one of the studio dance shots--the place of my heart and soul.
Peggy - Peggy Lyman Hayes There is just so much captured in this picture, and it is truly a portrait, a wonderful portrait of art, work, beauty, vision, focus, and so much more... this is just so inspirational, thank you to you and your subject(s). - Jeffrey Yamaguchi - http://www.52projects.com
I'm Bill Wadman, a New York-based photographer who after completing my first 365 Project, and then a weekly 52 Project, took it upon myself to shoot and post one portrait every day of 2007. Each photo was taken that day, and each day was a different subject. Some were be in the studio, some in the wild. Hopefully they are all interesting.
