Barrie Mann - Ancient Teacher / Stonehenge August 05, 2007
You didn't! You did!
Is it just me or does this man look like the sweetest thing? - AL Also, I love how you've got Stonehenge in the back, barely clearing the chain link. The light is beautiful - twilight? - AL His mouth is the most striking part for me, wow. - Carlos Urreta - http://www.fortstreetpulse.com I love how you show the mundane area around stonehenge, the part we never see. - carpeicthus - http://www.flickr.com/photos/carpeicthus wasn't all that impressed by the last few pictures... but this one makes up for it. - samsplanet He kind of looks dismayed at being refused access to one of Britan's oldest and most famous landmarks. Which of course you are - unless you pay the entrance fee. - Jack yeah, it's also 'cos he got there too late... - andrea - www.andreamann.com Who are these people? "I wasn't impressed by the last few pictures?" OMG that makes me absolutely crazy! JUST DON'T SAY ANYTHING! Ugh.... - Willy Marbles this will be the first, only and last time i respond to a comment directed at me. promise ;-)
@ willy marbles: if your advise is not to say anything, then why did YOU write here? double-ugh... - samsplanet samsplant - you must be daft. Obviously, Willy's point is that if you don't have anything nice to say, better not to say anything. - Roman34 as far as i see it, it says 'Comments' up there, not 'Compliments'. if you can't take some critisism then you best stay clear of art. and im sure bill is cool with that. but if things like that make you 'absolutely crazy' and call people names (e.g. 'daft') then it's YOU that shoud keep from writing here... maybe seek some help instead.
besides is had something nice to say... see 10th word and following in the above comment. - samsplanet i just occured to me... barries expression suits the comments on this page... :-) - samsplanet Oh quit it, it's to early in the week for all this bickering. Great pic Bill. I would do this old man! That's how good you've made him look! - El Danny - http://eldanny.com/ erm, I realise it was meant a compliment, El Danny - but I'd rather you didn't make lewd comments about my dad..! ;-) - andrea - www.andreamann.com I wrote something for the simple fact that I enjoy taking in the daily variety of life showcased here. You liked this picture, why did you go the extra backhanded step of pointing out that the last few weren't to your liking? It's just weird.... It's bitchy and hardly constructive. I don't come here to judge his photography. I come here to experience the life and wonder of fate as it appears before Bill's lens. - Willy Marbles Can't we all just get along? ;) - Peter - www.prdifferently.com why is everyone so caught up in telling everyone else how to respond all the time? samsplanet's comment was just honest. it tells more about him to realize what he likes and doesn't like. it doesn't say anything about bill's photography. and so what? you've got your opinion on the photography and how it affects you and other folks have theirs, and ALL are valid. the comments that follow are attacking an honest statement and further that person's mental capacity. were those comments more acceptable? it is just silly. and by the way, it is not back-handed to compare things you like with things you don't like as much - it's clarifying. people go to this site religiously once they've discovered it. they all have their own reaction to it. i would say that's part of the point. i would also say, respond however you frickin want to and if it bothers you that other folks do, just don't read the comments anymore - simply look at the glorious photgraphs. - kate why is everyone so caught up in telling everyone else how to respond? samsplanet's comment was just honest - horray! the comments that followed were attacking a person's honest (and not even that harsh) personal opinion and their mental capacity. were those comments better? samsplanet's comment just gives insight into what that person likes and doesn't like. it doesn't disparage bill's work. and by the way, comparing things you like and don't like is not backhanded, it's just clarifying. and as far as comments being constructive or not, does it really help the work to read almost every single day that bill uses color and light so well? yeah, we know that already.
once people discover this site, they look at it religiously. they all come for their own reasons and it affects everyone differently. i say respond however you frickin want to respond. it's there for everyone, no? if you don't like to read the input of others, skip the comments and just look at the glorious pictures. - kate Thank you, Kate, 4.39pm!!! You took the words right off my keyboard.
Now, back to the portraits: great photo, Bill. Stonehenge behind the fence, & the older gentleman with an expression that could be confused or bemused -- it's a lot of fun to keep looking at it -- stories keep running my head. I was wondering if you'd work a British landmark into a photo, and I love how you did it. - nuno and he sure is a British landmark! ;-) - andrea - www.andreamann.com I love everything in this photo... the green grass, the blue shirt, his white hair, and the stones in the backgroud... I am so jealous of you being able to shoot a portrait there. Awesome work, Bill. - Ela Oh Fiddlesticks.....Sorry Wadman.
I KNOW you can take the criticism/comments, but it just rubbed ME the wrong way. They're right, I just shouldn't read the comments.
I'll just shut up now..... - Willy Marbles wow. - Mary Yes. Oh wow. This one's amazing - Sarah This portrait is just amazing.. I love it. - Danie Krieger - http://flickr.com/photos/smoothdude/ I love how Stonehenge is totally not important in this photo. You're eye is much more draw to the man then the historical monument. - Courtney
I'm Bill Wadman, a New York-based photographer who after completing my first 365 Project, and then a weekly 52 Project, took it upon myself to shoot and post one portrait every day of 2007. Each photo was taken that day, and each day was a different subject. Some were be in the studio, some in the wild. Hopefully they are all interesting.
