cool geek of the week... ;-) - samsplanet I love the hair, the serene, inquisitive expression, the fact that he's not sitting in front of a computer. The only thing I don't like are the glasses, they look like a prop. - Jen Even though they probably aren't - @ jen
just our of curiosity: do you yourself wear glasses? - samsplanet ooh, really, really like this. simple but very effective... love the colours of the machine/box and table top. - andrea - www.andreamann.com The glasses look as though they have no lenses in them. - anon Just to head this one off at the pass, the glasses are real. And if there is a prop, it's sitting on the desk in front of him. Let's see who can figure out what it is. ;-) - Bill Wadman - 365portraits.com Typewriter? - Melissa Wright - http://www.melissawrightphotography.com Is that an enigma machine? I wish more of the "box" was visible to the viewer--especially if it adds context to the portrait. As it is, we can only speculate what it is. Great lighting on your subject. - craig - www.craigmolway.com The box is a briefcase. ? - Asymptote Craig wins. It's a german military Enigma machine. The first one I've ever touched in the flesh so to speak. Working on this series has its perks. - Bill Wadman - 365portraits.com Wow an Enigma machine! Now I want to see more photos of the machine lol. - Duluoz i find this portrait to be sexy...though i don't know why....like in a Jeff Goldblum sorta way!? nicely done bill. you & your subject have helped put a new face on science & math (my two least fav subjects) - story - prettylittlemess.wordpress.com You've already said what it is, but when I first looked at the picture it looked like a box of oil paints, much like one my father used to have. So I kept staring at it and trying to figure out how a box of paints would fit in with a photo of a scientist.
Shows what I know. - Jen - http://www.honest-planet.com ditto - anon I thought the exact thing Jen did, but thought I would have been the only one because I sell art supplies.
LOL. - Mikey Too much enigma machine and desk and not enough person. Might a longer lens have fixed this? Otherwise nice. - John Andrews Samsplanet, I have in the past, but do not now, mostly because I cannot afford them. And Jen, I thought it was oil paints, too. - Jen a perfect lighting and selective focus, well composed with the slightly blurred box in the foreground. And the perfect setup left aside you again got the expression extremely well into the photograph. Another engaging portrait. - Ulrich - http://uhilger.de He looks straight out of Dr. Seuss! - Alessandra He looks like he is distracted by a moment of realization as yet fully unformed. I like that machine there. It is apropos. - Boo
I'm Bill Wadman, a New York-based photographer who after completing my first 365 Project, and then a weekly 52 Project, took it upon myself to shoot and post one portrait every day of 2007. Each photo was taken that day, and each day was a different subject. Some were be in the studio, some in the wild. Hopefully they are all interesting.
