FACES OF 2007 - Bored of all the internet photography projects? If they were all as beautifully shot as Bill Wadman’s 365 Portraits ( above) then you wouldn’t be. The New York-based snapper is on a mission to shoot and post one portrait every day of 2007 on his website. As he says: “The photograph will have been taken that day, and each day will be a different person. Some will be in the studio, some will be in the wild.” The work is uniformly excellent, with site visitors often contributing gushing comments about them. Wadman simply hopes that “they will all be interesting”.

GO Brooklyn’s legendary shutterbug, Daniel Krieger, usually finds himself behind the camera. But last week, when he was assigned to take a portrait of Park Slope photographer Bill Wadman, Krieger was on the other side of the lens... read more >

Normally, staring at strangers will get you into more trouble than it's worth. Think about that while you're pondering the beauty of 365 Portraits, Bill Wadman's 2007 project to create a photographic portrait of someone different each day. I note that this is specifically his 2007 project because Mr. Wadman's done this sort of thing before; I remember being deeply moved by his 2005 project (the link above; will be self-explanatory), and am ever so pleased to see how this one's coming along. After all, it's sort of a journal if you think about it -- and if staring at strangers (albeit in portrait form) is verboten, how much more out-there is reading their journals?! Transgressive in the sweetest possible way, this site.

Photography is one of those things that I love but know nothing about. F-stops, focal length, aperture, shutter speed—all Greek to me. But boy, do I like looking at all the pretty pictures. So when my friend Rachel (that's her pictured to the left) told me about a project called 365 Portraits that her friend Bill Wadman is working on, I had to take a look... read more >

Yahoo Pick for August 7th:

Bill Wadman is no stranger to projects. Among his past endeavors, he spent one year making something new everyday (The 365 Project) and another every week (52 Project). Think he's had enough? No way... read more >

Gothamist (interview):

Park Slope-based photograher Bill Wadman isn't content to stay idle for long. After picking up his first SLR (single-lens reflex) camera in 2004, he quickly developed a passion for the art. Though he received his degree from Berklee College of Music, photography is now his full time career (and "first love"). January 1st, 2007 saw the launch of his latest, and perhaps most ambitious project thus far, 365 Portraits, a website which will feature a new portrait each day of the year.

Most definitely check out Bill Wadman's amazing 365 Portraits project. Wadman has challenged himself to take a portrait a day for 365 days -- not a self-portrait, but a portrait of someone else. And these are absolutely stunning photographs. Worth checking out daily.
