Ronald Deleus Walbrook - Walking Stick Craftsman, Subway Historian, Homeless / Lower Manhattan September 19, 2007
he's beautiful. such kind eyes. - story - prettylittlemess.wordpress.com Ronnie is a fixture on the corner of Lafayette and Leonard in downtown Manhattan. He has a kind soul and carves those walking sticks and then applies some kind of lacquer. Each one has a little cross scratched into it. He gives them away for free, one day I got one from him and bought him a sandwich as a thank you. He is pretty lucid most of the time and has some interesting stories but once you get him talking, lookout!! (plan to be there for awhile).
Great capture of him Bill, you really found his soul in this photograph. - Daniel Krieger - www.danielkrieger.com Striking image. What character shows thru. - John Andrews I liked this portrait the second it came on my screen. The story puts it near the top of my favorites. - Iris what a contrast to yesterdays portrait... most exceptional! - samsplanet wonderful. makes me want to talk to him, get to know him. there's so much there. - Andrea - www.andreamann.com Wow. - ebc - http://typingelbow.blogspot.com He is so very real. Is this the life he chose...? What if He had a house?
I don't know him, but it looks Like it would not matter.

The soul behind those eyes is kind and beautiful, but looks like it was never insouciant. This is one of my favourite ones because it tells us a lot about your subject. - Diane Oh! the beautiful light on that pained face! The look in his eyes! You have made a friend! - Ann vH
I'm Bill Wadman, a New York-based photographer who after completing my first 365 Project, and then a weekly 52 Project, took it upon myself to shoot and post one portrait every day of 2007. Each photo was taken that day, and each day was a different subject. Some were be in the studio, some in the wild. Hopefully they are all interesting.
