Jeff Williams - Drummer, Jazz Heavyweight / Windsor Terrace October 09, 2007
I see you're back home..
nice DoF here - Daniel Krieger - ww.danielkrieger.com I cannot help but notice the lack of your usual props or backgrounds that are synergistic to what the subjects intersects are. He is a drummer without a drum, he is a jazz heavyweight without notes. However he is white surrounded by white... in that there may be enlightenment... - Mikey i think something's missing in this and yesterday's portrait...but it could just be me not getting the concept behind these last couple...sorry bill! - story - prettylittlemess.wordpress.com I like this portrait quite a lot. The natural lines and shadows compliment the sublime feeling, music is not visually present but I can still hear it when I look at his eyes. - Caglin Enjoying all the subtleties in the flesh tones and creams and whites. However, something in his eyes strikes me as sad.
Very quiet, especially after yesterday's. Lovely, Bill. As always. - Michelle me don't see no sad there... ;-) - samsplanet I really do think this is a lovely picture. While it may not show the physical objects that he finds interest in, I think it speaks much more to his actual personality... I feel like it gives an insight into who this man is. Truly, it's compelling. Also, I have always been a big fan of monochromatic things, esp white on white. - ^That was me, btw :) - Gayle You know, my first reaction to this photo was: it is really bright... there is a lot of light here, and little colors, and yet, there is something in it. Jeff looks like he has some secret to tell. I want to be at this table with him and have a chat. Really interesting, Bill. - Ela there's a lot of space above his head here. Makes me think it's filled with ideas or music. also, i'm glad that his arm is blocking whatever it is on his t-shirt because I too love the white on white. - jess Mikey, you want props? How about a wedding ring? - henry woah. i really really really like this one. and it's the first time i feel i have to post since i've been watching your portraits from the very beginning. it's the white and white i believe and the pose and the eyes and the composition with wall and door. good one! thanks - Con Henry, I am referring to props relating to the interest Bill posts. Here it is musical instruments. So, similar to past portraits you might see him with drums or in a jazz club. If you look back you can see he has pictures of a photographer with his camera, an aerospace engineer with a rocket, etc. - Mikey There is something so perfect about this photo. You didn't NEED props, or special lighting, or anything else. You just needed him to sit and be himself, and this looks very, very extraordinarily natural, almost like you can believe someone looks this good during their day-to-day life EVERY day. This is in my top ten of favourite portraits, honestly. - Diane me with my puppet. april 26th
this man needs no props- he's got his soul, man. can't you dig it? - csd I'm not sure it's a gage, but I remembered this picture. Without my knowing why, one or two burn a bit of an impression that lasts for a while after I come here. Some have lasted a very long time. This one will. There is a quirky personality to it and a familiar feeling too.
It must be difficult to get a personality and a feeling into each shot.
There is one I am looking for that I cannot shake. Going to search for it. - Boo - http://www.xanga.com/Boowasborn I like the pleasant white tones. Beautiful portrait. - Victor Puig - http://www.flickr.com/photos/45street
I'm Bill Wadman, a New York-based photographer who after completing my first 365 Project, and then a weekly 52 Project, took it upon myself to shoot and post one portrait every day of 2007. Each photo was taken that day, and each day was a different subject. Some were be in the studio, some in the wild. Hopefully they are all interesting.
